A Lehi player attempts a goal on Carbon Tuesday night during the region match-up. Lehi controlled the field, scoring four goals on the Lady Dinos. Lehi has dominated all of the region teams this year and is 20-0 in the Region 8 play during the past three seasons.

When it comes to region eight ladies’ soccer, the Lehi Pioneers are king (or queen).
The Lady Dinos were unable to dethrone the Lady Pioneers in Tuesday night’s game at Carbon, losing 4-0.
Carbon held tight in the first half, giving up only one goal to their high-scoring opponents.
Carbon coach Dave Capalbo attributes the defensive stand to keeper Dani Long and defensive player Whitney Montoya.
“Whitney only allowed one goal to their leading scorer,” he said. “[But] once they saw how tough she plays, they just spread the ball around to everyone else.”
The second half of the match was a Lehi shooting gallery. Long stopped several difficult shots, but the bombardment was constant and Lehi got three shots past Carbon’s senior goalie.
Lehi has yet to lose a region eight match-up in the last two and a half seasons, according to Capalbo, with a 20-0 winning streak in region play.
“They pass, dribble and shoot the ball so accurately. Once we lose it, we usually don’t see it again until the kickoff,” Capalbo commented.
Already this season, Lehi has played each of the region teams once and scored a total 21 goals in the four games.
Delta is the only team to score on the Lady Pioneers this year, with two goals.
However, Capalbo said that rumors of Lehi being moved to 4A due to larger enrollment would remove them from region eight competition next season.
The Lady Dinos will face Lehi once more in regular season play on Sept. 25.
The Lady Dinos travel to Delta this Thursday.
