PRICE – Harold Andrew Nelson, age 80, passed away Sept. 4, 2003 in Price.
Born Dec. 19, 1922 in Rochester, to Stanley Christian and Florence Cary Nelson. Married Helen Virginia Lee Aug. 1, 1943 in Bend, Ore.
Longtime resident of Emery and Carbon Counties where he graduated from Carbon High School in 1941. Served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Graduate of Carbon College, where he played on the championship football team in 1947. In 1982 Harold retired from Utah Power & Light Carbon Plant.
Harold was active in Kiwanis and he enjoyed coaching the Price Kiwanis Little League and the Carbon Plant softball teams. He as an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and he also enjoyed farming and gardening.
Survived by wife, Helen Nelson, Price; two sons and two daughters, Gary (Gaylene) Nelson, Helper; Lee (Mary) Nelson, Salt Lake City; DeLynne Nelson, Price; Colleen (Stan) Pestotnik, Salt Lake City; brother, Stanley E. “Ted” Nelson, salt Lake City; sister, Cary Ellen Davis, Huntsville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.


Belva Branch Black


SPRINGVILLE – Belva Branch Black died September 3, 2003, at the age of 84.
She was born November 10, 1918 in Wellingtonto Irvin Branch and Annie May Smith Branch.She married Fonzo D. “Curley” Black on May 26, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
They lived in Provo for many years where Fonzo operated a grocery store and Belva taught school in the Provo and Alpine school districts. Belva lived her later years in Mapleton and Springville. She was a beloved and wonderful woman, devoted to her family.
She is survived by eight children: Beth (Michael) Ivers, Nan (Robert) Pendray, Suzi, Clayton (Joy) Black, Penny (Darrell) Blackham, Bradley (Cynthia) Black, RenLai (Chris) Merrill, DaraLee (Bruce) Jackson, 35 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, one brother, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12, at 11 a.m. in the Kolob 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 840 South 400 East, Springville under the direction of Berg Mortuary. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary at 185 E. Center Street, Provo, on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and at the church on Friday prior to services from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
