CIB Allocates Emergency Grant Revenues to Helper City

By Sun Advocate

The Utah Permanent Community Impact Board recently awarded $824,716 in supplement and emergency grants as well as loans to four rural communities for local projects.
At the local level, Helper city will receive a $244,716 emergency grant to replace a broken water transmission line and redevelop a spring.
In addition to Helper, CIB funding recipients included:
Antimony – $30,000 supplemental grant for unanticipated costs to complete the Garfield County town’s community center.
Richfield – $50,000 supplemental grant to remodel the clubhouse at the city-owned Cove View Golf Course, which was recently expanded from nine to 18 holes. The grant will be matched by city funds.
Vernal – $500,000 loan to install landscaping and improvements at Dinosaur Garden.
The Utah Community Impact Board assists state and local agencies that are or may be directly or indirectly impacted by mineral resource development on nearby federal lands and the exclusion of the lands from the local tax base.
