Carbon football bested by Uintah

Fatigue proved to be Carbon High football’s worst enemy on Friday night at Uintah.
The Dinos fell to the Utes 21-14 due to a sluggish second half.
Coach Jeff Jorgensen attributed the team’s exhaustion to a lack of lifting out of season.
“You could see it”, Jorgensen commented. “They were physically stronger than us and it showed.”
Carbon also had three taxing injuries during the game. Players Chris Hatch, Garth Johnson and Timmy Urbanik all left the game
Jorgensen said the loss of his three players hurt the team, especially the first half loss of Urbanik, who scored one of Carbon’s two goals.
“He’s such a good blocker for our tailbacks and he is our fullback running game,” Jorgensen noted.
Julian Montoya scored Carbon’s other goal, with Justin Blackham kicking both extra points.
Jorgensen said there were some bright spots in the game, though. Jordan Rowley had two kickoff returns for over 45 yards each.
The team will be making some changes, according to Jorgensen. With Urbanik out, he said the team is looking for a way to put tailbacks Brett Riche and Montoya in the game at the same time.
The loss drops Carbon’s record to 1-1.
Carbon High will play Union at home for this week’s Homecoming Game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
