Former CEU athletes playing for professional teams. Former CEU players Scottie Vines and Jared Fernandez are making their way in the professional leagues.
Vines, who played for the CEU basketball team in 1998, made a switch to football while attending Wyoming on a basketball scholarship. He recently played in his first preseason game with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, attempting to make the roster. Vines had two catches for a total of 24 yards.
Fernandez, a 1991 CEU baseball player, is currently pitching for the Houston Astros, after being with the Cincinnati Reds for two seasons.
