Price National minors capture all-star region title

Members of the Price National all-star team display their region trophies. The Price team captured the title after defeating Helper 16-4 in the final game of the annual all-star tournament.

After barely making it to the minor league all-star championship round, the Price National team soared to the top of the standings as they captured the region title last week.
The Price National hitters stepped up strong and blasted their way to a 23-1 victory over Helper in the championship game conducted July 23.
Because Helper had not lost a game during the all-star tournament, the Price team was faced with the difficult task of defeating the Helper all-stars for a second time July 24 in order to claim the region title.
Despite almost missing the chance to compete for the state title, the Price National team managed to make it to the final game of the season. The most important game of the year, the championship game.
The Price team came out strong once again and overpowered Helper to capture the minor league region title, 16-4.
After an undefeated final series, the Helper team left disappointed, but each player knew that they had just completed a highly successful season and look forward to next year’s tourney.
Northern Heights finished in third place and Green River captured fourth place honors in this year’s minor league all-star action.

As the minor’s were finishing up their season, the major league double elimination tourney got underway on the Price National field.
The first game was conducted July 25 as Northern Heights Gray overcame a 4-1 Helper lead to win the ball game, 9-4.
The second game of the day pitted Price National White against Green River. In the end, the Price team captured the 9-3 victory.
After taking a weekend off, the major league tourney resumed Monday afternoon as Helper faced Green River in an elimination game.
The first day winners then played each other as Price National White and Northern Heights Gray competed for the much needed victory.
Tuesday’s action will begin at 6 p.m. on the Price National field with the winner of the Helper and Green River game competing against the loser of the Price National White – Northern Heights Gray game.
The championship game will take place Wednesday and may extend to Thursday depending on winning records.
The winner of this year’s major league all-star tourney will travel to Roosevelt next Monday to compete in a practice session on the tourney field prior to opening play on Tuesday in the little world series of the WBBA.
