County to explore building a public recreation facility

By Sun Advocate

Carbon County Recreation director, Steve Christensen and Carbon County Commissioner, Steven Burge recently announced that a group of architects will be in Price July 21 to discuss the possibility of constructing a community recreation facility in Carbon County.
While in the local area, the architects will provide information to county officials and to the public concerning the construction of a public center.
The county representatives explained that the main reason for meeting with the architect group is to determine whether it is financially feasible to construct such a facility in Carbon County and to identify potential funding sources and then see if it is feasible to fund ongoing maintenance and operation expenses.
By meeting with the architects, the county representatives hope to establish a working relationship with the group so that cooperation will continue between the two entities.
During next weeks visit, the county officials hope to develop a conceptual drawing of what a facility in Carbon County may look like.
A public planning meeting will take place July 21 at 2:30 p.m. At this time, ideas and concerns regarding the construction of a community facility will be discussed.
The forum will take place at the Carbon County Recreation Center located at 90 North 100 East in Price.
