Letter to the Editor: Trashy trees a problem in downtown Price

By Sun Advocate

Editor:
It has been at least 10 years since the trees on downtown Main Street have been maintained. For some reason no one seems to care, yet there are only three blocks to take care of.
On the south side of Main Street in front of the courthouse the pine trees are partly hidden in the power lines. It looks like a small jungle.
On the north side of the street starting at 100 East clear down almost to the jail it appears trashy trees are growing into the windows and on the roofs of the buildings. At the Silver Dollar pigeons are climbing off the building to the trees and making a mess all over the sidewalk. The sidewalk has to be scrubbed with soap and water daily. It just as bad a problem on the other side of the street.
There must be a lack of communication on this area of town somewhere. The Peace Garden looks good, the cemetery looks fine and on many other streets the trees look fine. But not on Main Street.
For some reason no one wants to take care of this problem. I know contacts have been made, but nothing is ever done.
Downtown Main Street should always look good with trees and the buildings properly maintained.
At one time Price received an honor from the state as the “Tidy town of Utah.” There’s no reason it can’t be that way all the time.
I think we should all get together and brighten up our downtown area.
