Utah is famous for its community celebrations and festivals and Castle County is filled with things to do and see this weekend. Fireworks in Huntington, Price and Scofield are large parts of weekend Fourth of July activities, but parades, games and compeitions are all included.
Pleasant Valley Days
Pleasant Valley Days celebration is scheduled July 4 through 5 at the town park in Scofield.
The 2003 event’s theme is this is my country.
Booths, vendors, displays and games will be set up in the park July 4.
Breakfast will be served in the park beginning at 7 a.m. July 5 and continue until 10 a.m. or until the food runs out. A parade will follow at 11 a.m.
Activities will include a climbing wall, refreshments and entertainment at the park. A specially planned attraction for the 2003 event will be a miniature train ride for youngsters.
The Price Kiwanis Club duck race will begin in Mud Creek at 2 p.m. Saturday and will finish at Chestnut Street.
All proceeds raised in connection with the duck race will benefit area children.
In addition, a prize drawing will be conducted at 4 p.m.
The Pleasant Valley Days celebration will end Saturday with a fireworks displays at dark from Scofield Reservoir.
Residents and spectators may view the display which originates on the island from locations across the Scofield valley.

Heritage Days
It’s an annual event and this year’s theme for Heritage Days in Huntington is American Idol. The celebration kicks off July 3 and runs through July 6. All events are scheduled at the City Park except the Huntington Glee Club fireside Sunday, July 6th.
Activities begin with the Little Idol contest (ages 8-11) from 1 to 3 p.m. on July 3, followed by the Junior Idol contest (ages 12-16) from 5 to 7 p.m. and the Heritage Day’s Idol (17 and up) from 7 to 9 p.m.
The kid’s Pet contest at 4 p.m.is followed by the MECCA bike ride at 5:30 p.m. and the free ice cream social and dessert contest begins at 7:30 p.m., all on Thursday.
Friday, July 4 kicks off with a flag ceremony and fun run at 6 a.m.followed by breakfast at 7 and the kid’s parade at 9:30 a.m. The regular parade is set for 10 a.m. followed by the Scottish Band Performance at noon. A free concert featuring the City Cowboys will be held at 1 p.m. followed by the annoucnement of the Idol winners at 3 p.m. Three on three basketball is set for 3 p.m. and free kids entertainment runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Booths and food are all day and the fireworks ends the evening at dusk. The Glee Club fireside featuring Jay Sitterud will be held at the Huntington Stake Center at 8 p.m. Sunday.
