The Seniors of Carbon County have many organizations and branches of government supporting their nutrition programs.
CEU’s continuing education program department and Jim Huffaker have brought Debbie Pearson to the Price Senior Center to teach computer classes.
The classes are Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and are limited to six people because of the limited number of computers.
Individuals who have already taken the class are invited to sit in the back of the room and listen while the class is being taught.
There are about 60 people signed up and waiting for their chance at the computer. “The response to this class has been amazing,” says Bowman.
A Thursday afternoon computer class began this past week taught by Bonnie Brantley and will run four weeks.
Brantley has tutored computer classes at other senior centers and is volunteering her skills to provide similar services in Price.
The class is titled, “Basic for Beginners,”will take students through the basic steps of getting started on the computer.
Have you ever wondered how to take better photographs? A class teaching some of the little secrets of taking better pictures will be taught by Ken Larson, publisher of the Sun Advocate on June 19. This will be the first of a three-part class and participants are urged to bring photographs to share with the class and talk about how they can be improved.
A second session will be an afternoon field trip to practice the new information and the third class will be a follow-up of the field trip photos.
The first picnic of the year will be Wednesday, June 4, in Pioneer Park.
This will be a potluck and the center will provide the drinks and salads.
