Debbie DiCaro
PRICE – A special person is no longer in pain. Debra Marie Mayer Vea, age 33, passed away at the University of Utah Hospital in the early morning hours of May 14, 2003, with her mom and dad by her side.
She was born Aug. 23, 1969 in Los Angeles, Calif., to Mike and Sandra Myers Mayer.
Debbie moved to Price in 1984, graduated from Carbon High School in 1987 and later attended the College of Eastern Utah
“Angel” enjoyed her family first and she also liked sharing time with her friends, reading and cooking.
Debbie leaves behind the light of her life, her son, Paul Joseph “P.J.” Vea; husband, Benjamin DiCaro, who always called her Angel; mother and father, Sandi and Bill Snyder; father and stepmother, Mike and Annie Mayer; brother, Mike (Edye) Mayer; stepsisters, Corinne (Larry) Evans, Allie (Scott) Bradley, Joni (Kory) Moosman; stepbrother, Chan (Torie) Snyder and their families; Ben’s parents, Mario and Marta DiCaro; Ben’s daughters, Sophia DiCaro and Maria (Brue) Baker and their son, Raiden; P.J.’s father, Paul Vea, and their extended family. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by grandparents and granddaughter, Kimiko Baker.
Funeral Mass Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, 210 North Carbon Ave., Price. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday and and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Wellington City Cemetery.
Kathryn Ori
HELPER – Kathryn J. Poyer Ori, our loving mother of four generations, departed from her loved ones on May 12, 2003.
Born June 20, 1915 to Lucia (Eccli) and Agostino Poyer in Chicosa, Colo. Married Emilio Ori June 1931 in Castle Dale.
She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed working for and attending St. Anthony Parish in Helper, where she was a lifelong member. She was a member of the Altar Society and Sewing Circle, a member of the Italian Lodge, Sisters of the Stella of America, where she was president for a time until they combined membership with the mens lodge. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eight and Forty 256.
She was employed by the Carbon County school lunch for 26 years and enjoyed many years as a volunteer at the Helper Mining Museum.
Her great love was cooking and baking for her family and friends as well as handwork and crocheting.
Survived by daughter, Betty (Bob) Nichols, Orem; grandchildren, Robert E. (Nancy) Nichols, Orem; Lori (Kim) Eckles, Sandy; great-grandchildren, Cammie (Ed) Cable, West Jordan; Chad Eckles, Sandy; Alexandrea Nichols, Orem; great-great granddaughter, Ariana Cable, West Jordan; two special nephews, Leo (Wilma) Zanelli, Morgan; August (Ra Nae) Zanelli, Cypress, Calif.; sister, Mary P. Hudson, Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by husband; parents; sisters, Rose Poyer, Julie Hudson, Louise Guadagnoli, Anna Zanelli, Edith Gagliardi; and brother, Adolph Poyer.
Her beautiful smile and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation and thank you to the staff of Harmony House in Helper, for their overwhelming love and gentle care, to all her faithful friends for visits and spiritual support, and to Dr. Daniel Monahan and the Castleview Hospital staff for many years of exceptional care.
Funeral Mass Friday, May 16, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Vigil service Thursday evening, 7 p.m. at the church. Family will be at the church Thursday and Friday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Jose Aguilar
PRICE – Jose Ponce Aguilar, age 80, passed away May 13, 2003 in Price of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 30, 1923 in Bay City, Texas. He married Grace Anderson Feb. 17, 1971 in Reno, Nev., later divorced.
He and his family have been longtime residents of Carbon County, where he worked in Horse Canyon. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the UMWA.
Joe was a senior volunteer and loved helping others. He enjoyed gardening and working with his hands. He was also a veteran of World War II.
Joe is survived by two sons, Joe and Marianne Aguilar, Orem; Anthony “Tony” Aguilar, Arkansas; granddaughter, Caitlynn; brother, Mario; and sister, Josephine, both of Mexico.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price where a vigil will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday, May 19, 10 am., in the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. Burial, Cliffview Cemetery.
