Bo Brady playing William McGreggor lifts Heather McLoren, played by Mary Frandsen, off her feet during Carbon High’s production of A Highland Requiem.
CHS students took top honors at the recent Region 8 drama festival at the high school in Price. Carbon took first place in the one-act play competition and finished first in the individual events portion of the competition.
‘I was amazed by the accomplishment of this crew’ stated Carbon drama director, Rodney Scott. ‘It has been 30 years since we brought home a sweepstakes trophy. We’ve been close several times, but it was never quite enough until now.’
CHS junior Brady earned the best actor title for the second year in a row as well as a gold medal in dramatic interpretation. Frandsen played opposite Brady at the competition and qualified for state in mono act.
Local students garnered eight additional medals, more than any other Utah school, and Carbon is sending a full slate to the state competition along with the one-act play.
The state competition will take place April 25-26 at Wasatch High in Heber City.
