The Carbon High Lady Dinos are currently sitting at 2-0 for the season.
The second loss of the year came this past Tuesday when the Dinos fell to the Lehi Pioneers, 12-7.
In a back and forth battle, the Dinos struggled to maintain control of the lead.
Carbon was ahead of Lehi 3-1 early on in the ball game. The Pioneers quickly reversed the lead which the Dinos would soon regain control of.
The see-saw battle continued up to the final inning of the Region 8 battle.
With bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning, Carbon managed to break ahead of Lehi 8-7.
With two outs and bases loaded, the Dinos hit the ball hard but could not advance their run talley during the inning.
Lehi then stepped up to bat and blew the doors wide open by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning to capture the Region 8 victory.
“We had a few bad breaks at the end of the game which cost us the win,” explained Dino head coach, Tony Pinedo.
Aside from the disappointing outcome of the game, Pinedo was excited by the effort which his team put forth.
“We really held on tight throughout the game. Unfortunately, the outcome didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to, but the girls hit real well especially Brittany Pollastro and Michelle Ruden,” explained Pinedo.
According to the Dino coach, Pollastro finished the game 3-4 at bat and had one home run against the Pioneers.
Also hitting well for the Dinos was Ruden who finished 2-3 and had one RBI during the Region 8 battle.
The team looks forward to competing Thursday on the road against North Sanpete who is considered a strong team in the region this year.
The Dinos hope to rebound from their past two losses to capture their first victory of the regular season.
Carbon will return to their home field which is located at the Carbon County fairgrounds ball park facility, next Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when they host the Delta Rabbits.
