CASTLE DALE – Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather Ross J. Anderson, 86, passed away March 4, 2003 at Castleview Hospital in Price as the result of a fall and causes incident to age.
He was born May 18, 1916 in Castle Dale to James and Armenta Anderson. Married Norma Bernice Jones Dec. 24, 1941 and later solemnized the marriage in the Manti LDS Temple. They enjoyed 61 years of life together.
Dad was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions.
He was employed by the WPA and the CCCs. He served four years in the South Pacific during WWII as a tech sergeant and a mechanic crew chief in the Air Force.
He was employed for 34 years in the coal mines of Carbon and Emery counties.
As lifelong residents of Castle Dale, Ross, Bernice and their family enjoyed camping and many vacations together. They especially enjoyed the many winters they spent in Yuma, Ariz., and the many friends they made there.
Dad, the many fascinating stories of your life’s adventures and misadventures will be missed by all of us. You had more adventures in your life than most people could have in three lifetimes.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; children, Loretta (Le-Roy) Maxfield, Castle Dale; Kathy (Ken) Stilson, Orangeville; Jim (Kathy) Anderson, Riverton; Don (Camile) Anderson, Sandy; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois Burgess of Washington. He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Dell; sister, Jean Fitzgerald; and two grandchildren, Amy and Will Anderson.
Friends may call for a visitation Friday, March 7, 6 to 8 p.m., at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center, with a viewing at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Castle Dale Cemetery.

EAST CARBON – Timothy James Powell, infant son of Brian and Erin Powell.
Born March 1, 2003 and passed away March 1, 2003.
He is survived by parents; big sister, Alexandria; grandparents, Jim and Lorene Miller, Bessie Powell; grandma-great, Dorothy Routh; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services Swill be aturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery, 105 Valley View Road, Sunnyside, under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
