PJ Stinnett pushes past a Wolverine defender. Stinnett sank two free throws in the final seconds of last Saturday’s game to defeat the Salt Lake Bruins, 71-70. The Eagles will now move on to compete in the SWAC finals this week.

The men’s basketball team at the College of Eastern Utah finished their season this past weekend. The Eagles hosted two games to conclude their successful year.
The Eagles kicked off the basketball action Thursday night as they hosted the Golden Eagles of southern Idaho.
The game ended in disappointment for CEU who lost to the Idaho team, 87-69.
Chris Langhorne lead the eastern Utah team in scoring with 24 points. He was followed by Anthony Grant who finished with 12 points and Mindaugas Katelynas with 11.
The Eagles looked to bounce back from the defeat as they hosted the Salt Lake Community College Bruins Saturday night.
The game remained tight throughout the entire competition. The Eagles lead the Bruins by one point going into the half.
With only six seconds remaining in the game, the Eagles found themselves trailing the Bruins by two points. This is when second year Eagle, PJ Stinnett was sent to the free-throw line.
Both shots were good and the Eagles wrapped up the ball game with a victory by the final score, 70-71.
Katelynas lead the game in scoring with 16 points while Stinnett posted 15 points.
Stinnett also shot 9-11 from the free-throw line including the game winning shots.
The Eagles concluded the season with a 7-9 record against Scenic West Athletic Conference opponents.
The teams overall season record stands at 18-12 for the year.
The Eagles moved on to compete in the SWAC region tournament with their first game taking place Wednesday.
The CEU team entered the tourney ranked sixth in the SWAC final standings and faced third ranked Utah Valley Community College.
A victory over the Wolverines would send the Eagles into the semifinal round of the tournament which will take place Friday.
If the team loses, it will be the official end to a successful basketball season for the eastern Utah team.
