Chris Langhorne drives to the basket during a home game held earlier this year.

After defeating the North Idaho Cardinals Jan. 18 at the BDAC, the College of Eastern Utah men’s basketball team turned around to travel to Idaho to face the Scenic West Athletic Conference team for the second time this year this past Saturday night.
The long road trip proved to be successful for the Golden Eagles who returned home happy and with another SWAC victory.
The game heated up during the early minutes of play as the Idaho team jumped out ahead of the Eagles, 46-25 by the half.
As the Eagles entered the locker room, the team remained focused for they knew that difficult task at hand. They must overcome the shooting deficit and play strong in the second half, shutting down the Cardinals shooting offense.
As the teams returned to the hardwood floor, the Eagles found their groove and managed to soar above the Cardinals to defeat the Idaho team, 79-77.
After shooting only 40 percent from the field in the first half, the Eagles managed to rebound and shoot 57 percent during the second half.
The Eagles defensive skills also improved in the second half as the team held the Cardinals to only 40 percent shooting in the second half.
The two point victory boosted the Eagles SWAC season record to 5-4 while dropping the Cardinals to 5-5.
Leading the Eagles in points was first year CEU athlete, Anthony Grant who scored 19 points. He was followed by second year Eagle star, Mindaugas Katelynas who scored 18 points while grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the team in that category.
New Jersey native and first year Eagle, Chris Langhorne played exceptionaly well against the Cardinals as he scored 11 points. Langhorne also dished out five assists while pulling down three rebounds.
Derrick Turner rounded out the double point shooting foursome as he posted 10 points against the Idaho team.
The Eagles will continue SWAC competition this week as they host Snow College Thursday evening.
