Wayne Erickson
WEST VALLEY CITY- Wayne H. Erickson, age 80, died Jan. 15, 2003 in Salt Lake City.
Born Dec. 10, 1922 in Orangeville, the son of Ervin Bouther and Grace Dee Jewkes Erickson. Married Gladys Tanner Aug. 8, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death Oct. 17, 1986. Married Erma Dean March 26, 1988 in the Jordan River LDS Temple.
Active member of the LDS Church, where he served in various callings including 10 years as bishop in Price. Served in the U.S. Army.
Survived by wife, Erma; children, Wayne E. (Laurie Ann) Erickson, Joan Dee (Alan Lee) Stout and Patty (Brett James) Hansen; other children, Diana (Tony) Fuller, Mark (Shauna) Dean, Rod (Sally) Dean and Blair (Shellie) Dean; 48 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lola Jean (Duane) Nelson; Carolyn (Louie) Nelson. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Lyle Dee Erickson; sisters, Enid Lillian Baldwin and Winona Marx.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the Granger West 8th LDS Ward, 3305 South 3960 West. Friends may call Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday at the church, 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at the Wellington City Cemetery.
Irene ‘Trini’ Ivie
PRICE – Irene ‘Trini’ Wilson Ivie, age 84, passed away Jan. 13, 2003 at Turnquist Retreat.
She was born July 30, 1918 in Sunnyside, the 8th of 15 children to James and Kate Hatter Wilson. Married Louie F. Ivie Sept. 4, 1935 in Price. He died June 19, 1989.
Member of the LDS Church and the Pythian Sisters. Lifelong resident of Carbon County. She loved being around her family and friends and enjoyed volunteering at the senior citizen center addressing the monthly newsletters.
Grandma Ivie took great pride in her sewing, embroidery and she loved to make aprons and dish towels for everyone in the family, as well as donating them to the senior center for the annual bizarre. She loved to sit out on the front porch and talk to the neighbors as they walked by. She saw many changes throughout here life and took the transition well.
Grandma Ivie had a great sense of humor and she kept us all laughing and on our toes to the end.
Survived by three children, La Ree (Neldon) Noyes, Price; William S. “Bill” (LaRene) Ivie, Huntington; Patsy I. (Gene) Brown, Elmo; three sisters and two brothers, Dora Hendrickson, Scipio; Bernice Henrie, Wellington; Juanita (Willis) Merrick, Ogden; Stirling (Annie) Wilson, Price; Edwin V. (Virginia) Wilson, Helper; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; four sisters, Alice, Kate, Iva Mae, and Thelma; five brothers, James, Clarence, Charlie, Johnny and Woodrow; and great-great-grandson, Jadon Noyes.
Funeral service Thursday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Ferral Dunn
PRICE – Ferral A. Dunn, age 74, passed away peacefully Jan. 8, 2003 in Price.
He was born April 26, 1928 in Monroe to Arnold H. and Deona Nielsen Dunn. He married Clara E. White March 5, 1949 in Lyman, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in various callings. He worked for 38 years for Mountain Bell.
Being born and raised on the Monroe Mountains, he never lost his love for the outdoors where he made many precious memories with his family.
His family was his life.
Ferral is survived by wife, Clara of Carbonville; children, Terral and Debbie, Richfield; DeVon and Louann Dunn, Price; Hayden and Mary Dunn, Hay-den, Colo.; Kevin and Rita Dunn, Price; Quinn and Becky Dunn, Pleasant Grove; Darla and Rod Lee, Price; Tav and Janet Dunn, Fairview; and Tonja and Jeremy Howa , Austin, Texas; 31 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, DeRae Darling, Jetta V. Lampretch and Carol Berthelson. Preceded in death by grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas and Kayla.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 13, at the Spring Glen LDS Chapel. Interment was in Cliff-view Cemetery in Price under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Helen Young
PRICE – Our beloved Helen Melva Young, 82, returned to her heavenly home Jan. 14, 2003 in Price.
She was born March 2, 1920 in Antelope, to James R. and Mima Peacock Keele. She was married to Thomas B. Carroll May 6, 1941 and later they were sealed together in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away and she later married Grant L. Smith.
She loved to travel and visit with family and friends and enjoyed reading.
She was a department manager with Price Trading Company and then loved working for many years as a teacher in the Head Start program, and retired as an assistant manager with Yellow Front Stores. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including relief society, primary, a mission to the Little Rock, Ark., Mission and served as a temple worker in the Manti LDS Temple.
She will be deeply missed by children, James T. (Sharon) Car-roll, DeVere K. (Susan R. ) Smith, both of Price; and sister, Ruby Burrola of Price. Also five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Thomas; four brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call for a visitation at Fausett Mortuary in Price Friday, Jan. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 18, in the Price LDS Stake Center. Interment, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Earlene Jensen
CASTLE DALE – Our most precious and loved mom, grand-ma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Earlene Leturgez Jensen, age 65, died suddenly Jan. 13, 2003 in a tragic car accident.
She was born Dec. 21, 1937 in Canon City, Colo., to Paul and Mildred Smith Leturgez. Married Stanley Jensen Sept. 14, 1956 and, together they had four children, Stanley Paul, Charlene, Gary and Lori.
Earlene worked at the San Rafael Museum as a hostess.
She loved to read, sew, crochet, embroidery and make quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. But most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, they were the apple of her eye. She was looking forward to her two new great-grandbabies.
Survived by children, Charlene (Dennis) Olsen, Weston, Idaho; Gary (Anita) Jensen, Huntington; Lori (Sheldon) Jensen, Price; grandchildren, Shawn Olsen, Hillsboro, Ore.; Kimberly (Justin) Anderson, Midvale; David (Erin) Olsen, Hillsboro, Ore.; Sheyanne and Sierra Jensen, Price; great-granddaughter, Amber Anderson and two new great-grandbabies on the way; sister, Sharon Griffin, Hutchinson, Kan.; brothers, Les (Carol) Leturgez, Price; and Paul (Ruth Ann) Leturgez, Price. Preceded in death by parents; son, Stanley Paul, who died Oct. 4, 1985; and brother-in-law, Maurice Griffin.
She will be greated missed by her family and we will love you forever. Now you get to go and be our special guardian angel.

Mac Kutkas
PRICE – Gary “Mac” Matthew Kutkas, age 26, passed away Jan. 8, 2003.
He was born Oct. 23, 1976 in Price to Gary and Joyce Bejare Kutkas. Married Adriana Mar-quez June 11, 1999 in Price.
Mac enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his children. He enjoyed fishing, watching movies and playing pool and basketball with his friends.
He will be dearly missed by his family and many dear friends.
Survived by wife, Adriana; children, Anthony, Jasmine and Destiny Kutkas; parents, Gary and Joyce Kutkas, all of Price; sister, Kandi Kutkas, Park City; Davee Kutkas, Salt Lake; sister, Amanda Kutkas, Colorado; brother, Dean Kutkas, Kansas; uncle, Herb (LaVon) Kutkas, Price; aunt, Linda Kutkas, Price; mother-in-law, Irma Marquez; sister-in-law, Monique Marquez; brother-in-law, Carlos Marquez, all of Colorado; cousins, Toni Kutkas, Price; Keven Mills, Price; and Sherry Paletta, Wellington.

Ove Oveson
PLEASANT GROVE – Ove Maron Oveson, 84 of Pleasant Grove, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in American Fork.
He was born May 28, 1918 in Cleveland to Louis Peter and Mary Mae Howard Oveson. He married Glenna Taylor on Feb. 24, 1939 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Maron grew up in Castle Dale and graduated from Central High School in 1936. He started working for UP&L right out of high school. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and returned to work for the power company, transferring to Pleasant Grove in 1958 as a local agent. He retired in 1983 after 47 years of service.
Maron served in the Pleasant Grove Lions Club for 50 years, holding all local offices as well as district governor of Utah. He and Glenna were also members of the Knife and Fork Club. Other civic activities included serving in the Chamber of Commerce and president of Strawberry Days.
Maron was an avid sportsman and enjoyed bowling, hunting, and golfing.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission with Glenna to the Provo Temple. Maron will be remembered as a person who could find a friend anywhere and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He loved his family and all who he associated with.
He is survived by wife, Glenna of Pleasant Grove; two children, Craig (Paulette) Oveson, Pleasant Grove; Lisa Dawn Hill, Hurricane; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and brother, Howard Dean Oveson, West Valley City.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 18, noon, in the Battle Creek 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 1222 East Nathaniel Drive (approximately 600 South), Pleasant Grove, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
