Rape crisis hotline – Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Helper 2003 animal licenses – may be purchased Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police department on Main Street.
Flu vaccinations – Clinic hours at the health district in Price are Monday through Friday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
USU food manager course – will be taught March 11, 13, 18 and 20. Fees required. For information, contact the county USU agent.
Weed-herbicide workshop -will be offered Jan. 24 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the county planning and zoning building. Speaker will be USU weed specialist Steven Dewey.
Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions are slated at the health department in Price on Feb. 12 and March 12 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Test fees required. Classes will be offered at the health district in Castle Dale on Jan. 16, Feb. 20 and March 20 at 4 and 7 p.m.
HEAT program – Applicants for the federally funded energy assistance program must have identification, Social Security cards for all household members 18 years of age or older, copies of utility bills and proof of preceding month’s income for all employed people in the home. The program closes March 31. Contact the program at 613-0100.
Foster Care Foundation – Carbon-Emery residents interested in becoming foster parents may contact Greg Cowan at 636-0210.
Parenting for teens – The Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Participants learn about available resources, assistance to help youth return/remain in school, parenting/life skills, cooking and recreation opportunities. Contact Terry Willis at 637-0281.
Family management, parenting programs – Free family management sessions for parents of children ages 9 to 14 are scheduled Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. at East Carbon High and Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. at Westridge Middle School. Referrals are also being accepted for a 10-week start-up parenting program. Contact Four Corners at 637-7200, extension 303.
CASA – Court appointed special advocates are trained volunteers appointed by judges to speak for children appearing in court. Screenings are conducted on all volunteers. Contact Tarasina Compagni at 636-3431.
Frontier project – works to empower local families. The program needs youth mentors. For information, contact the project at 637-1497.
Carbon County Triad – meets the first Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. at Price senior center. Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly. Meetings are open to the public.
Lifeline pregnancy assistance, support center – The facility offers free confidential pregnancy testing, verification, counseling and baby supplies. Residents may contact the center by calling the 24-hour telephone line at 636-0700.
Cans for Care-A-Van – The service is conducting an aluminum can drive to help defray the costs of providing transportation to medical appointments for the elderly and people with disabilities. Bagged cans may be dropped off at Howa’s. For pickup, call the office at 637-9488.
Carbon County Humane Society – The non-profit organization offers monthly spay and neuter clinics at 98 North Carbon Avenue in Price. For information, call the humane society at 637-2908.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Foster parents – The local DCFS office needs foster parents willing to work with teens and provide emergency shelter care. For information, contact Cindy Saccomanno at 636-0219.
Helper library – Hours are Monday through Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m.; Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday. For information, contact the library at 472-5601.
Price library – Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; closed Sunday. Story hour is Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Children Pet Pals activities are Tuesday at 5 p.m. The library will give away old magazines until Jan. 31. CEU library -Hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.; Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Hours vary on holidays and during breaks. Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Child Care Resource & Referral – offers information on becoming child care providers and referrals for parents, employees or employers needing related services. For information, contact the agency at 613-5619.
Helper mining museum – From Oct. 1 to April 30, hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. From May 1 to Sept. 30, hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tours may be scheduled. For information, contact Helen Tonc at 472-3009.
Prehistoric museum – From Nov. 1 to March 31, hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. From April 1 to Oct. 31, hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information, call the museum at 613-5060.
Cancer screening – Southeastern Utah Health District in Price offers checks twice a month for women up to and including age 64. Clinics include breast, pelvic and pap exams at low or no cost. Women 50 to 64 may qualify for free mammogram vouchers. Call the health department at 637-3671 to schedule appointments.
Infant immunization clinics – The health district in Price offers the clinics Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
ABC Learning Center – has books, computers and activities for adults and children. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

BSA Troop 282 pancake dinner – is slated Jan. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Price United Methodist Church. Scouts will sell tickets at local grocery stores on Saturday afternoon. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
Winterfest – will be presented Feb. 8 in the gym at Notre Dame School. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m Activities include games, kiddie booths, refreshments and a silent auction. Tickets may be purchased at Oliveto’s, Hard Hat, Love Floral and at the door.
Price Culture Connection -The schedule includes the following presentations:
