The Carbon High diving team hosted an invitational qualifying meet last Saturday at the Desert Wave Pool. Three teams competed in the event including Carbon, Davis and Viewmont High.
In the girls competition, Carbon diver, LynD Anderson placed second while teammate Cora Broadbear finished in third place.
This was the first meet for Broadbear therefore, she was extremely nervous, but she competed quite well.
Both Derek Potter and Michael Glasson struggled to land each dive. Both Dino divers did well, but each dive was completed better during practice with a higher degree of difficulty. In the meet however, both divers went too far over and missed several simple dives according to coach Stewart Foster.
Potter looked good on his inward one and one half somersault. He went on to finish fifth overall while Glasson placed sixth.
Each Carbon diver improved their scores since the last qualifying meet.
The Dinos will compete in their next invitational meet Jan. 12 at the University of Utah.
