Wellington Fire Fighters work to attach a hose to the hydrant in front of Wellington Elementary. The drill was the brainchild of Scott Rowley, Wellington Fire Chief, who said he had some new fire fighters that needed a real life situation to test their skills.
Lights, action and smoke in the halls. That was the scenario last week when Wellington Fire Fighters were called by dispatch to Wellington Elementary School. The school called dispatch telling them that there was smoke in the halls. Dispatch paged the fire fighters and they rolled up to the school just a few short minutes later. The only ones who knew it was a drill were Chief Scott Rowley and Principal Kerry Jensen of the school. The kids were informed it was a drill when they got outside, but the fire fighters know nothing of it until they started to evaluate the situation once they got in the building.
