Linda Johnstun’s School of Dance, 58 N. Carbon Ave., Price, 637-2725, has been involved in dance education for 37 years.
Johnstun’s School of Dance is made up of two dance companies, the Senior and Junior Nonstop Dance Company and the Nonstops has an audition only entrance.
Their performances include Nonstops: Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Ms. Holiday Cruise Ship, Catalina Island, Tuacan in St. George, Washington, D.C. and New York City. They have won many talent competitions.
Johnstun’s public service includes: board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce for four years, Miss Carbon County director for nine years, KNOCA Board of Directors six years, total citizen of the year award in 1997, choreographer for public elementary schools, and choreographer for local theatre groups.
Johnstun taught movement folk dance in Carbon County elementary schools and has been a guest teacher for Utah Valley Jazz workshop. She also served on the Culture Connections board of directors since it started and is the Southern Utah Regional Director for Worldwide Association of Performing Artists. Her expertise also includes entertainment director and opening ceremonies for International Days.
As director of the dance school, her programs begin with ages 3 and run through adult, and include: classical ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, character, folk ballet, and musical theatre.
Johnstun has been dancing since the age of 5. Attended workshops throughout her dancing career. She is certified through Dance Educators of America and a certified teacher in ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance.
The dance school is anticipating next year’s dance concert to be held May 31, 2003 at the Geary Theatre. The concert will be “Celebrating America.”
