Carbon residents will cast ballots at the Nov. 5 election to select two candidates to occupy seats on the county commission. The local races include Republicans and Democrats vying for the elected commission offices. Incumbent William Krompel will square off at the general election polls against Republican William Palmer, while Kimball Johnson will attempt to squelch Democrat Steve Burge’s campaign for a seat on the Carbon County Commission. At the state level, incumbent Brad King’s bid for re-election to Utah House of Representatives District 69 will be challenged by De Lamar Gibbons. District 69 encompasses two-thirds of Carbon County, all of Green River, one-fourth of Moab and all of San Juan County. At the national level, second congressional district incumbent Jim Matheson will battle Republican John Swallow to continue serving Utah in the United States House of Representatives.
