An investigation into an alleged break in at the Price Veterans of Foreign Wars club concluded with the recovery of missing money and the arrest of a suspect.
Bruce Noone, who had been laying carpet at the VFW post for a couple of days before the burglary, was arrested last Wednesday after the suspect entered the club.
The first report of the break in came at 7:20 a.m. when an employee of the club reported the west door facing the parking lot had been forced open.
“He did the right thing,” stated Price Police Lt. Ed Shook. “He called us instead of going in the building.”
Police Officer Dennis Christensen was the first to arrive on the scene and entered the club.
For an unknown reason, possibly due to the fact that someone may have been in the west parking lot at the club, the intruder purportedly forced open the front door that faces Main Street to exit the building.
In effect, the subject purportedly not only broke into the VFW club, but also broke out of the building. Both doors and locks at the scene were extensively damaged.
While inside, the burglar got into the place where the money from the club was put away. He then escaped with it. However, during the escape he stashed the money and his burglary tools at an undisclosed location where police later found it.
“We were able to develop some information from a source about where the stolen cash was hid,” explained Shook. The police also developed leads that pointed to Noone being the person that had committed the crime.
Later that morning Noone walked into the club and police arrested him on the burglary charge. Everything that had been reported stolen was recovered.
“One of the things that helped solve the burglary so fast was the cooperation amongst the agencies involved,” said Shook. “Christensen did a great job and we had help from the Carbon County Sheriffs office, Adult Probation and Parole as well as the Utah Highway Patrol.”
