During its only home game of the season, the Carbon fall baseball team split a double header. The team fell to Provo in the opening game by the final score 5-0. The team bounced back however in the second game to defeat Springville 4-3.

As the leaves change colors and the temperatures begin to drop, baseball season is put aside to make way for fall sports such as football and volleyball. For the die hards of the sport however, baseball is alive and well in Carbon County.
Several baseball enthusiasts are currently competing in the fall baseball season. The Carbon County team looks like a who’s who of local baseball stars with athletes from area high schools competing.
Several Carbon Dino athletes are currently competing in the league, some of which recently wrapped up the Helper American Legion season. Dino pitcher Troy Grundy is amongst the athletes who are participating in the league. In fact, Grundy has had an incredible fall season by pitching several strong games including last weeks home showdown.
In the home game which was played on the College of Eastern Utah field, Grundy had 14 strike outs against Provo. Despite his efforts, the Carbon team fell to the visitors 5-0.
In this game, Mike Smith had a double while team mates Corey Olson, Tommy Larsen and Chase Julian each had singles.
In the second of the double header match ups, Larsen pitched 10 strike outs while Smith completed a triple. The Carbon team defeated Springville in a close game, 4-3.
The main downfall for the local team was leaving runners stranded on base. With several opportunities to score a run, Carbon ended the inning with bases filled.
Although the Carbon team will only host the one set of home games, the athletes felt honored to play on such a well kept field. As the athletes stepped onto the CEU field, each filled with pride as they hosted two games on one of the nicest fields in the state.
Carbon will resume play this weekend as the team travels to Timpview where they will play at 9 and 11 a.m Saturday.
