Helper resident Allen Saccomano completed a life-long dream during the July 4 weekend as he made a lone journey across the United States on his Yamaha motorcycle. Saccomano traveled from his home in Helper to Niagara Falls, N.Y. where he turned around and began his trip home. The journey took Saccomano three and one-half weeks to complete the 5,000 mile round trip which took him through 14 states.
During his adventure, Saccomano met many interesting people and other bikers who were all friendly and helpful. Much to his surprise, he encountered nine lanes of heavy traffic which was moving ahead of him for as far as he could see. For the Helper resident, it was an amazing sight to behold.
Saccomano visited Mammoth Caves and Fort Knox in Kentucky. He also spend a few days in Nashville, Tenn. and made a memorable visit to Graceland and the resting place of Elvis Presley. Before returning home, Saccomano stopped in Branson, MO. to enjoy some country music before returning home.
