The Carbon Dino cross country team competed in its first meet of the season this past weekend. Although the team did not place in the top three, the Dinos did gain valuable experience while improving on their endurance skills.

The Carbon High School cross country track team competed in its first meet of the season Aug. 31 in American Fork. Despite many of the Dino athletes missing the meet, the team competed strong against class 4A and 5A teams.
The boys varsity relay team which consisted of Scott Terry, Joe Palmer, Chris Cook, Teddy Prettyman, and Jacob Burrows ran well and kicked off the season strong.
The boys junior varsity team also did well as Tyler Munns, Tommy Garvin, and John Fausett ran for the Dinos.
The girls team also did well at the meet. The varsity team which was comprised of Melanie Madsen, Ashley Rowley, Janet Bates, Elizabeth Brooke, and Jana Burrows displayed their talents and were strong competitors.
Junior varsity girls who competed in the meet included Alyssa Donaldson, Erica Flower, Brittany Horrocks, and Audrey Oliver.
First time runners Oliver and Brooke had good runs and a great time competing and are expected to offer the Dinos strength this season.
Although the Dinos failed to finish with a victory at the meet, the team received valuable experience and look forward to competing at their next meet which will take place Sept. 7 in Provo.
