The original hole awaits repair at the Gigliotti Pond in Helper. The hole was discovered by two young anglers and was determined to be the origin of the missing water which began draining from the pond earlier this summer. After the pond drained below this hole, water continued to disappear from the pond and it was determined that more than one drainage site was in place. The pond became completely drained last week and repair work began Monday. According to Division of Wildlife Resources southeastern region aquatics manager Louis Berg, the repairs may be completed by the end of this week. Once the repairs are finished, DWR will refill the fishing pond with water. The refilling process will take place in several stages to ensure that all repairs have been made before fish are released into the water. Bluegill, bass and trout will once again be stocked in the pond. The entire project may take up to a month to complete.
