Artists and song writers are honored at Helper Arts festival

Doug Braithwaite of Sunset was the judge’s first place selection for his piece titled, “Rocks and Trees.” Braithwaite was one of 40 artists from throughout seven western states to compete in the Plein Air competition. The pieces, all portrayed Helper’s heritage and featured a number of buildings or landscapes from the Helper community. In a separate competition at the auditorium, Chad Guerrero of Carbonville was selected as the winner of the youth art exhibit.
Joseph Alleman of Orem was selected as the people’s choice for his entry in the Plein Air competition at the 8th annual Helper Arts Festival. Alleman was one of several artists that chose one of Helper’s unique, historic buildings as the focus of his piece.
