Reva Reid
ORANGEVILLE – On Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, our loving mother and grandmother, Reva Scow Reid, left this life to join her beloved husband Walt (1909-1973).
She was born Dec. 31, 1914 in Mayfield to Conrad and Linda Scow. She married Walter H. Reid June 8, 1936 in Manti. They had two sons, Vaughn and Lynn.
She was always joking and full of fun.
She was raised in Mayfield and was very proud of her Danish heritage. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and gardener and was known for her exceptional baking.
Reva was very close to her father and was proud of how he was able to keep his family of eight children together after the loss of their mother. He taught them all to work very hard.
She had been active in the LDS Church Relief Society.
She is survived by two sons, Vaughn W. and June Reid and Lynn H. and Annette Reid, all of Orangeville; grandchildren, Nancy Kay and Tom Rockenback; Linda and Bob Ririe; Amy Reid; Christy and Donald Danner; Lisa and Alonzo Miller; Ted and Amy Reid; Denise, Lyndsay and Candace Reid; and 13 great-grandchildren. Reva was preceded in death by parents; siblings, Rhonda, Arvon, Ernst, Lloyd, Ivan, Dorothy and Moyle; and grandson, Walter Lee.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1 p.m., at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial, Orangeville cemetery.
Jack Judi
PRICE – Jack E. Judi, age 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at his home in Price.
He was born April 5, 1922 in Clear Creek to John and Ina Hakola Judi. He married Mary Lucille Oviatt June 16, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving with his wife in the Manti LDS Temple, as stake employment specialists and as church coordinators at the Parkdale Care Center. He also served as an assistant ward clerk and as secretary to the high priest group.
Jack loved his family and devoted his life to them.
He had a unique ability to understand electrical and mechanical principles and he readily applied this talent in his work in the coal mining industry and in helping neighbors and family. He was instrumental in developing a meter for testing high voltage electrical cable splices that was patented and put into use in the mining industry.
Survived by wife of 58 years, Lucille; daughter, Shaunna (Bruce) Haslem, South Weber; son, Vaughn O. (Marianne) Judi, Castle Dale; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Becky Poglajen; son, Terry Judi; grandson, Terry Haslam; and sister, Selma Smith.
Friends may call for a visitation at Fausett Mortuary in Price Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 7, at noon at the Price 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 545 East 400 North. A viewing will be at the church prior to the services from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Price City Cemetery.ary, Price.
Mary Krissman
HELPER/PROVO – Our lovely aunt and friend, Mary Josephine Migliaccio Krissman, passed away Aug. 3, 2002 at her home in Provo.
Mary was born Aug. 24, 1914 in Cameo, Colo., a precious daughter of Antonio and Rosa Tallerico Migliaccio. She married William Krissman Feb. 26, 1944 in Palisade, Colo. He died Sept. 6, 1997.
Mary was an elegant and caring lady who gave generously of her time and talents as a member of many charitable organizations.
She was a member of Eastern Star for nearly 50 years and served as worthy matron.
Mary also was an early member of the PEO Sisterhood and Daughters of the Nile.
Member of the Provo Community Church.
Her energy and love of life and family were unmatched.
She and Willie hosted many parties at their home and, together, could dance the polka better than Lawrence Welk.
Mary had the ability to make each person she knew feel like they were her favorite person in her life.
She worked for the postal service for 25 years and was nominated “miss smile” for her cheerful personality.
She was preceded in death by parents; a sister Elizabeth Bonza; and brothers, Domenic, Jack, Tom, Ralph, Lawrence and Frank Migliaccio.
She was the last surviving member of the old Migliaccio family from Price and she was looking forward to a wonderful reunion with all of them and her husband, Willie.
Her passing is the end of an era to her many nieces and nephews, who will miss her greatly.
The family wishes to thank her dedicated caregivers who made her comfortable and safe in these last years.
Family and friends will meet to honor her life Thursday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, located at 233 E. Main, Price. Graveside service Thursday, 11 a.m., Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
Frank Stevenson
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Frank M. Stevenson, 80, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by those who loved him on Saturday Aug. 3, 2002.
Born July 22, 1922 to Earl and Chasty Stevenson at Sunnyside. Married Jo Welch, London, England (divorced). Married Connie Westenskow, Price, later deceased. After retiring, he married Bennie Jo Muchowski and made his home in Grand Junction, Colo.
He was a longtime resident of Carbon County, where he grew up in Castle Gate’s coal mining community.
Frank served in WWII with the U.S. Army 3626 Truck Company driving the Red Ball Express Highway in France. After being wounded and returning home, he joined the United Mine Workers of America. With over 60 years membership, he became a leader and driving force in the UMWA.
He worked for Kaiser Steel at Sunnyside, where he served as local union president before being elected to the office of president and secretary-treasurer of UMWA District 22, headquarters in Price. Elected international board member, UMWA international executive board for District 22, headquarters in Washington, D.C. Appointed international teller and assistant to the president, UMWA.
During his career with the UMWA, Frank was a major advocate for black lung and coal miner’s benefits. He worked tirelessly to secure benefits for retirees, widows and their dependents.
Frank was an avid fisherman and loved enjoying the outdoors with his family, camping and fishing.
The last year of his life was a joy for him and unforgettable. Because of his service in WWII, he never graduated from high school. On May 23,2002, he was honored as one of the oldest WWII veterans to graduate and receive his diploma from Carbon High School. He was so proud that, in the ceremony, he graduated high school with his granddaughter.
In June 2002, he attended a reunion with his war buddies from 3626 Truck Company in Hot Springs, Ark. And on July 20, 2002, he enjoyed a family reunion and 80th birthday party with his family and friends in Grand Junction.
Frank will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He has gone to rest now, but will always be with us in our hearts and through his love and the accomplishments he achieved throughout his life.
Survived by wife, Bennie Jo, Grand Junction, Colo.; three sons, Gary (Carol) Stevenson, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Randy Stevenson, Grand Junction, Colo.; David Stevenson, Price; three stepchildren, Joyce Snyder, Port Orchard, Wash.; Shirley (Max) Cortner, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; John (Theresa) Muchowski, Clifton, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, five great-grand children; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 8, 2 p.m., at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, Colo. A viewing will be Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6 to 8 p.m.
