Letter to the Editor: What is peace?

By Sun Advocate

Almost 60 years ago, thousands of men went to war. Many of them didn’t come home.
And the little child asked, “Mommy, why isn’t daddy coming home?”
“He died fighting for peace, honey,” she answered.
Many years later, thousands went to war again. Some who went were called traitors and some who didn’t were called cowards. Once more many of them were lost in battle.
And the little child asked, “Where’s daddy?”
“He’s not coming home honey. He died fighting for peace,” answered the mother.
The patrolman kissed his child good-bye and went out on 1-70 to work. He stopped a car and took a bullet
The little child cried and said, “Mommy I want my daddy.”
“Honey, I’m sorry, daddy died fighting for peace. He’s not coming home,” said the mom.
Someone flew the planes into the buildings and killed thousands of people. Hundreds of police and firemen went into the buildings trying to save the people. Many of them died with the people they tried to save. Some brave men took a plane down rather than have it blow up another building
And the children asked, “Where’s my daddy, why doesn’t he come home?
“He died fighting for peace honey,” said the mother.
And then the little child asked, “Mommy, what is peace?”
To all the patrolmen, sheriffs department, city departments, the firemen, rescue squads and all the others all over this world who risk their lives every day for all of us, we thank you from the bottom of our heart.
I’ll know I’ll never take America for granted again.
God bless America.
