An accident on Utah Highway 10 last Thursday afternoon shows how construction zones can sneak up on drivers. Two Emery County vehicles were reportedly headed northbound when the motorists approached the construction zone near mile post 62. A Ford Taurus with two female occupants stopped for traffic backed up from the flagging position when a Chevy Geo allegedly failed to slow in time to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle. The women in the Taurus were taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries while the woman driving the Geo broke an arm and incurred various injuries in the traffic accident. Two ambulances were needed to transport the injured victims. Luckily, none of the injuries were life threatening since the heavy traffic was backed up and it took several minutes for emergency response crews to respond from Price. The July 11 accident remains under investigation.
