| Troy Grundy had a successful season with the Dinos this year. In fact, Grundy was named to the first team on the all-state roster for his pitching skills. Next season Grundy will return as a junior and will offer his talent to the Carbon team who will once again aim for the state championship title. |

| Although his career as a Dino may be over, senior Blake Wilde has made a strong impression on baseball fans. Wilde has been named to the second team on the all-state roster this season. Wilde was also named to the 3A all-star team for his pitching talent. |

| In his final year with the Carbon High Dinos, Matt Jewkes found himself on top of his game. Whether Jewkes was manning the pitching mound or offering his talents as short stop, he kept Dino fans on the edge of their seats. Because of his remarkable skills, Jewkes was named to the all-state first team. Jewkes is no stranger to the all-state team roster. In fact, last year he was named to the class 3A second team during the Dinos championship season. |

| Awards continue to pile up for Zac Cloward. Last month Cloward was named to the Utah all-star team and competed with the best 3A baseball players in the state. This month Cloward was named to the second team on the all-state roster. Cloward’s talents are endless. This season found him not only playing catcher for the Dinos, but also pitcher. |
It’s official. The names are in for the annual all-state baseball roster. This year four Carbon Dinos are listed amongst the best players in the state.
The season started off with high expectations. After all, last season the Dino team brought home the state title and it was expected that the team would repeat this year. The pressure was on, but for the four all-staters, it was business as usual.
This season the Dinos fell short of the state title with a third place finish at the state tournament. For the boys from Carbon, the season was marked with frustration yet triumph.
For all-state recipients Matt Jewkes, Zac Cloward and Blake Wilde, this was the end to a successful career in a Dino uniform. It was the beginning however for all-state team member Troy Grundy who stepped up like a pro in his sophomore season with the Dinos. Either way, the four Carbon players each played with the heart of a champion and left a mark on Carbon baseball history.
Jewkes and Grundy have been named to the all-state first team for the incredible effort this year. Jewkes is no stranger to the all-state team. In fact, last season he was named to the second team roster along with Wilde.
This year, Jewkes was named to the all-state team for his performance as short stop. Although Jewkes also stepped up as pitcher this season, the efforts in which he was recognized for was his infield skills. Jewkes who graduated last month will be dearly missed by the Dino team next season.
Also on the first team list is Grundy. Although only a sophomore, his skills far exceed his experience. Each time that Grundy steps up onto the pitchers mound, the determination is felt throughout the stands. Grundy plays with such intensity that it allows teammates to follow, thus leading to a strong and solid team. Grundy is a true leader and the Dino team will be a lot stronger with his talent.
On the all-state second team list this season, both Cloward and Wilde represent Carbon with pride. In fact, not only are both players present on the all-state list, but they also garnish the title of Utah all-stars.
Last month both players competed in the annual all-star game. The team in which they competed for was comprised of the best athletes in the 3A division. The honors only continue to pour in for the two all-state team members.
This season Cloward offered his talents to the Dino team as both catcher and pitcher. The upbeat spirit of Cloward allowed the Dino team to soar while winning ball games. The senior will be missed next season, but his legacy will live on.
For the second year in a row, Wilde has been named to the all-state second team. No matter what, when opportunity knocks, Wilde answers. The quick thinking player has offered his hand in several clutch situations for the Dinos the past several years. The enjoyment of playing the sport of baseball is written across Wilde’s face each time he steps onto the field. Wilde’s enthusiasm is bound to carry him far in the future.
This year’s Dino team was loaded with talented players. The four which were named to the all-state team will remain in the memories of all those who enjoy Carbon baseball for many years to come.
