Green River coaches throw in the towel.
After a lengthy coaching career at Green River High, coach Stanford Parsons has decided to call it quits. Although Parsons will not coach athletics, he will continue teaching and serve as the athletic director for the school.
Parsons has coached athletics for 27 years. Over these years, Parsons has coached five state championship teams in three different sports, along with winning a total of 681 games.
Along with success, Parsons also felt his fair share of defeat over the years. Most notably are the two losses in overtime which his girls basketball team fell to at the state finals, along with a boys basketball loss also in overtime in the finals.
Parsons has had a successful career as the boys basketball coach the past 17 seasons with a 269-136 record and two state titles. As girls basketball coach for 11 years, Parsons compiled a 152-56 record, along with a 260-129 volleyball record.
Parsons will be replaced by last seasons volleyball coach, Daniel Roden.
