Women’s conference, workshop sessions scheduled

The College of Eastern Utah’s annual women’s conference is slated for April 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Several presenters will be on hand at the event, including Jean Cheney, who has had an extensive career in humanities. Cheney is an adjunct professor at Westminster College and an assistant director of the Utah Humanities Council.
The theme for the conference is “United we stand.”
The conference will consist of five sessions of workshops available to attend throughout the day.
A luncheon is also planned which will feature the naming of southeastern Utah’s woman of the year.
Speakers for the 2002 event will come from far and wide to share information with local women.
Presenters include:
•Jack Morrison – The retired history professor will discuss the women of World War II.
•Bonnie Cook – has done extensive research on the topics of stress management, motivational dynamics, risk management, physical assessment and clinical ethics for practitioners.
Cook will discuss stress management at the conference.
•Anita Bruno – The CEU business instructor is a financial consultant, specializing in personal financial planning and employee benefit programs.
Bruno will discuss financial strategies for women.
•Steve Burge – heads the criminal justice program at the college.
Burge will discuss wills, trusts, guardianships, divorce issues, powers of attorney and estate issues.
•Suzette Alger will conduct a presentation about personalities in the workplace.
Alger’s presentation will teach why people are different, and how to handle those who are different and difficult.
•Candy Brinkman will discuss the importance of spirituality and the role it plays in women’s everyday lives.
•Joy Hartman, MPA, will conduct a session on negotiating in the work place.
•Sandra Grant will discuss what color a personality is.
Grant will explain how to interact with others who are different from each other.
•Jane Dyer will discus health issues.
Dyer understands the subject, coming from a health care background that extends for more than 30 years.
•Susan Sheehan will present how women can juggle it all.
•Finally, Paul Neabit will discuss accomplishing what one wants through listening.
Lower per person conference fees are available on advance ticket purchases. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
The registration includes attendance at all of the workshops, a luncheon and continental breakfast.
