Bessie Mahleres
PRICE- Prominent businessman, community leader and dear friend, Mike Gust Himonas, age 64, left us April 8, 2002 with honor, zest for life and humor during his final hours.
He was born Nov. 22, 1937 in Price to Costandinos and Athena Konakis Himonas. Married Annastasia Klapakis July 21, 1963 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
For 39 wonderful years, they shared a love for their church, community, sports, arts and literature. They were blessed with receiving their son, Stavros, who loved and supported Mike until the end.
Mike was an active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as past president of the church board as well as a choir member. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1955 and later received his bachelor’s of art from the University of Utah. He was an avid fan and strong supporter of CEU basketball.
His creativity and artistic talents have left us many treasures by which he will always be remembered.
Mike enjoyed several careers during his life, including ranching with his two brothers, running a restaurant with Stacy and owning and operating the Price Allstate Insurance office for over 30 years.
He was a family man who loved his mother, brothers, sisters-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dearly adored his nieces, nephews and his many godchildren.
You are loved by many, you gave us so much and we were not ready to say good-bye. May your memory be eternal.
He is survived by his mother, Athena Kontas, Price; wife, Stacy Himonas, Spring Glen; son, Stavros Himonas, Salt Lake City; brothers, George (Chris) Himonas, Price; Gust (Vale) Himonas, Price; Nick (Joyce) Kontas, Denver, Colo.; Frank (BoAnn) Kontas, Steam Boat Springs, Colo.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Chrisie Klapakis and Jim Adamson, Salt Lake City; nephews, Deno (Lisa) Himonas, Salt Lake City; Michael Kontas, Japan; nieces, Lori Ann (Ken) Brush, Tracy, Calif.; Aime (T.J.) Robertson, Salt Lake City; Angela Kontas, Chicago Ill..; grandnieces, grandnephews and many godchildren. Preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Tony Kontas.
Funeral service Friday, April 12, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service Thursday evening, 7 p.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Family will be at the church Thursday and Friday one hour prior to services. Internment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Evelyn Herbert
RIVERTON, Wyo. – Evelyn F. Herbert died peacefully on her birthday, April 8, 2002, at her home in Riverton, Wyo. She was 88 years old.
Evelyn was born April 8,1914 in Lamar, Colo., the daughter of Albert S. and Belle (Hayes) Franklin. She lived through difficult, but exciting and satisfying times.
As a small girl, Evelyn remembered moving by covered wagon from the family farm near Lamar to Elbert, Colo., where she attended school.
She was a young woman when WWII began and served her country as a “Rosie the Riveter” working at Petersen Field near Colorado Springs.
Later, she moved to the coal mining town of Sunnyside, where she and her husband, Harry W., lived for the next 25 years and raised their family of two sons and a daughter.
Evelyn enjoyed dancing and having a good time. With Harry W. , they made many friends in the numerous roadside establishments they visited through the years.
The family spent many happy times fishing and going on long, scenic drives.
After her husband retired from the coal mines in 1968, they moved to Arizona, where they lived for the next 30 years. Due to declining health, they moved to Riverton several years ago to be closer to family.
Survivors include a son, Harry C. Herbert and his wife, Mari, Vale, Ore.; son-in-law, Clyde Stagner, Riverton; sisters, Stella Burge and husband Harland, Sun City, Ariz.; Betty Lou Plush and husband, Tom, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Darlene; son, Roy; two brothers and four sisters.
The contact with Evelyn by many nieces and nephews through the years was appreciated very much. Many thanks and gratitude go to her granddaughter, Dreama Kay Gentry, who provided compassionate and loving care during the last years of Evelyn’s life.
Graveside services are Friday, April 12, 2 p.m., at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton, with Rev. Earl Detwiler officiating.
