Former Sun Advocate and Emery County Progress publisher Kevin Ashby accepts the Utah Press Association’s highest individual award from Richfield Reaper publisher Mark Fuellenbach.
Presented at UPA’s winter convention, the award recognizes Ashby for outstanding contributions to the Utah newspaper community during a career spanning more than 35 years.
The award was created to recognize a man or woman whose career matches the words engraved on the plague, pointed out Fuellenbach. Recipients are selected by peers in the statewide newspaper association.
The plague reads: ‘Master Editor Publisher Award of the Utah Press Association, presented to Kevin D. Ashby: He has worked hard, lived honorably, thought soundly, influenced unselfishly and is entitled to the highest honor in his profession.’
Ashby left the Sun Advocate and Emery County Progress last year to accept a position with Pioneer Newspapers in Preston, Ida.
