The regular season is officially behind the College of Eastern Utah Lady Eagles. The team competed in their last regular season game last Friday in Colorado.
The team finished the season off on a winning note by defeating the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans, by the score of 100-71. The victory brings the Eagles overall record to 12-18 and the Scenic West Athletic Conference record to 7-11.
Julianne Orgill, who has been a star player for the Eagles, especially was against the Spartans. Orgill finished the game with a double-double, consisting of 11 steals and 22 points.
“Orgill has been a key player for us this year, and she finished the season strong against Colorado Northwestern,” explained head coach Dave Paur.
Currently, Orgill is ranked 11th in the SWAC in steals with an average of 2.17 per game. This average was far surpassed against the Spartans this past week.
McKell Warburton also had a terrific game against the Spartans. Warburton who is ranked quite high in the SWAC in three point field goals made, with a second place ranking with an average of 1.97 per game. Warburton outdid this average against the Spartans when she completed six long distance shots.
The game last week served as a warm up game for the Eagles who will travel to St. George Wednesday to compete in the SWAC tournament. The Eagles who finished the season off in seventh place in the SWAC will play Ricks College, the second ranked team at 6 p.m.
The Eagles have struggled this year against Ricks College. Both meetings have found the Eagles on the losing end of the scoreboard. This fact does not discourage the Eagles however. The team is looking forward to the post season tournament where the team will try to complete the season victorious.
