Community blood drive – ARUP Blood Services will conduct the local drive Feb. 19 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Blood will be collected at the Price Elks Lodge.
Senate candidate schedules visit – Gary Stephens will meet with local officials and residents Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the CEU alumni room.
Republican Lincoln Day dinner – The Carbon County meet the candidate dinner is slated Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at Briccones Restaurant. Advance tickets are available at a reduced fee or may be purchased at the door. For information, contact Diana Palmer at 637-7235.
Carbon Republican Party caucus, convention -The caucus is scheduled March 25 and the county convention will be conducted April 25.
Utah Alzheimer’s Association meeting – Representatives from the state organization will meet with community members in Price on Feb. 20 to assess the needs of caregivers in the Carbon County area. For appointments, call the association toll-free at 1-800-371-6694 by Feb. 15.
UMWA Local 6363 – Members will meet Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at District 22 headquarters.
Rape crisis hotline – Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Flu vaccination clinics – are scheduled at the public health department Monday to Friday from 3 to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Price history books – Residents may purchase the books in room 102 at the Price City Hall, at the CEU Prehistoric Museum and at the Helper mining museum.
Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions will be offered at the health district in Price on Feb. 20 and March 20 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Classes are planned at the health department in Castle Dale on Feb. 21 and March 21 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Test fees required.
Frontier project – is looking for clean, used clothing for families and children in need. To donate, contact the project at 637-1497.
Carbon County Triad – meets the first Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. at Price senior center. Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly. Meetings are open to the public.
Carbon County RSVP – Volunteers ages 55 year and older are needed. Mileage reimbursement and liability insurance provided. For information, contact the RSVP office at 637-9118.
Lifeline pregnancy assistance, support center – The facility offers free confidential pregnancy testing, verification, counseling and baby supplies. Residents may contact the center by calling the 24-hour telephone line at 636-0700.
HEAT program – The federally funded home energy assistance program is accepting applications. Identification, Social Security cards and proof of past month incomes for all household members 18 years and older along with copies of utility bills are required. Applicants must schedule appointments by calling the HEAT office at 613-0100. The program closes March 31 or when funds are depleted.
Cans for Care-A-Van – The service is conducting an aluminum can drive to help defray the costs of providing transportation to medical appointments for the elderly and people with disabilities. Bagged cans may be dropped off at Howa’s. For pickup, call the office at 637-9488.
Carbon County Humane Society – The non-profit organization offers monthly spay and neuter clinics at 98 North Carbon Avenue in Price. The group needs old towels and blankets. Members will pick up good used items for the group’s spring rummage sale. For information or appointments, call the humane society at 637-2908.
Carbon County Animal Shelter- Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carbon County Housing Authority – The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The children’s library is open to housing residents Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.
Foster parents – The local DCFS office needs foster parents willing to work with teens and provide emergency shelter care. For information, contact Cindy Saccomanno at 636-0219.

Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Women’s cancer support group – meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Castleview’s classroom. Cancer control program – Free pap smears and mammogram vouchers are available to eligible women 50 years and older at the medical clinic in East Carbon. Women 40-49 may also qualify for free mammograms. For information, contact the clinic weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cancer screening – Southeastern Utah Health District in Price offers checks twice a month for women up to and including age 64. Clinics include breast, pelvic and pap exams at low or no cost. Women 50 to 64 may qualify for free mammogram vouchers. Call the health department at 637-3671 to schedule appointments.
Infant immunization clinics – The health district in Price offers the clinics Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m
ABC Learning Center – has books, computers and activities for adults and children. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For tutoring appointments, call the center at 888-2061.
Social Security – The Price contact station is located at the county courthouse. Representatives are at the office the second Wednesday of the month from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., with a half-hour lunch break. For information, call Social Security toll-free at 1-800-772-1213.

Schools
CEU faculty, staff talent show – The SUN center will host the event Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s multi-cultural room. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Proceeds benefit Carbon County Food Bank. For information, contact the center at 613-5624.

Yearbook archives – College of Eastern Utah Library is looking for copies of CEU and Carbon High yearbooks its archives. The missing years include 1928, 1933, 1939, 1955, 1959, 1961 and 1966. The WWII years are also missing, but the library is not positive if any were produced during the war. Residents may contact thelibrary at 613-5209. American Cancer Society daffodil fundraiser – Orders for flowers should be placed by Feb. 25. Daffodils will be delivered March 11. Contact Joyce Pierce at 637-2883.
Rio Theatre auction – The fundraising event is slated March 9 at Helper Civic Auditorium. Organizers are accepting donations, including antiques, collectables, furniture, glassware, toys, etc. All proceeds with go to the fund for completion of the theatre.
