PRICE – Our loving wife, mother, sisters and dear friend, Arlene B. Staley Bogdin, age 51, passed away Jan. 20, 2002 at her home after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis.
She was born Feb. 3, 1950 in Price to LaVell and Bessie Draper Staley. Married John O. Bogdin Feb. 12, 1972 in Price.
Member of the LDS Church. Lifelong resident of Carbon County. Arlene graduated from Carbon High School and later attended a Salt Lake beauty school, where she received her cosmetology degree.
She loved the outdoors and will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by husband, John O. Bogdin, Price; son, John Deloy Bogdin, Price; and brother, LaVell Staley, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by parents.
Funeral service Thursday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.



Kenneth Tomsic


HELPER – Our beloved husband, dad and papa, Ken Tomsic, age 73, passed away Jan. 17, 2002 in Utah Valley Hospital from complications associated with multiple myeloma.
He was born Nov. 23, 1928 in Helper, to John and Caroline Toson Tomsic and was a proud, lifelong resident of Helper. Married Shirley Ann Karr Nov. 1, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Ken was a strong union man and a member of the UMWA Local 1206. He worked in the coal mining industry most of his life and retired from the Wellington Washer Plant in 1985.
He was known in the neighborhood for his beautiful yard and rock gardens. Ken will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Ken is survived by wife of 48 years; two sons and four daughters, Gary (Renate) Tomsic, Kyle (Melanie) Tomsic, Lana (David) Phelps, Kendra Tomsic (Kathy Howa), Carol Jensen, and Gina Tomsic (Russ Lawson). Also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; and brother, Gene.
P.S. I miss your touch, your smile and our wonderful times together. You were my soul mate, my life. Thank you for the love you gave me, for being my best friend and giving my life meaning. Love, Shirley.
Funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. The family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
