Saturday June 10 is the 10th Annual National Get Outdoors Day. This national holiday was inspired to promote being active and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Lucky for us, the Castle Country is loaded with adventure whether you plan on heading up high into the mountains or down low into the desert.
The Castle Country is the home of 5 State Parks, Scofield, Goblin Valley, Huntington Lake, Green River, and Millsite.  Along with the State Parks, Carbon and Emery counties are also home to arches, waterfalls, slot canyons, and several Native American paintings and carvings.
For more ideas on what to do for National Get Outdoors Day, stop by the Sun Advocate to pick up the newest special publication, the Castle Country Adventure Guide. This publication is overflowing with places to see dinosaur fossils and information on off-road trails, as well as many must see sites here in the Castle Country.
Not only is Saturday National Get Outdoors Day, it is also Free Fishing Day.  Be sure to check out the fishing pond at the Carbon County Fairgrounds, Knight-Ideal Pond in Wellington, Gigliotti pond in Helper, Green River State Park Golf Course Pond, and Huntington Game Farm Ponds. This is a great day to take the whole family fishing, as licenses are not necessary. For more adventurous fishing, visit any of the Castle Country’s many lakes or rivers.
