The Carbon High School boys’ basketball team won one game out of three that it played at the Steve Hodson Cancer Classic over the winter holiday.
The Dinos defeated Providence Hall in their final game of the tournament 56-53, after falling to Cedar City 50-33 and Snow Canyon 57-55 in overtime.
Against the Patriots of Providence Hall, the Dinos got out to an early lead, outscoring the Patriots by two in the first quarter and seven points in the second. The Patriots had a strong third quarter, scoring 15 points and the Dinos led by just one point heading into the final quarter. The Dinos were able to outscore the Patriots by two points in the fourth period, earning the 56-53 win.
Senior Kyle Quinton led the Dinos with 16 points. Senior Gage Daugherty and junior Brendan Palacios each tallied 10 points in the game. Senior Chase Morgan scored nine points on three three-pointers.
The Dinos will get back to regular play this week, hosting rival Emery High School on Saturday at 7 p.m.
