The former County Rec office is temporarily county wreck during remodeling.

The Utah Department of Motor Vehicles office is moving from its Price River Drive building to an office in the Carbon County Administration Building that has housed the Recreation Department. The DMV will be on the first floor in Suite 1500.
County commissioners and other officials have been working with DMV to arrange a rental agreement. According to the terms of the agreement that was approved at the regular meeting of May 1, the State will lease the office space for $2,484 per month over seven year successive terms. The State will also pay for the remodeling costs and office furniture. The DMV rent will go directly to the county general fund.
The move is intended to provide easier collaboration between the DMV and Carbon County Clerk/Auditor and Assessors, and for greater convenience for citizens.
“Fiscally and logistically, this arrangement will be a win/win for the county and community,” says County Auditor Seth Oveson.
Carbon Rec will be relocated to the Event Center in the Community Building. The building will be renovated to add office spaces and storage for equipment. “Moving to the Event Center makes sense all around,” says Recreation Director Frank Ori, “I am currently the director for both departments and it will be easier to manage them from one location.”
The facilities that Ori supervises are all located in the Fairgrounds and Event Center area except the North Springs Shooting Range. More of the recreation department staff will be available onsite to help with events, which should ease some of the responsibilities of the staff now located there. It is also expected to enhance cameraderie among the staff and more opportunities for Ori and Brenda Addley to pursue potential future events for the Event Center and/or Fairgrounds.
June 16 is the tentative date, but both relocations will depend on the time needed for renovations.
