It wasn’t exactly a traffic jam, but there were a lot of cars standing still in and around Helper City Park Saturday. The occasion was the Outlaw Car Show, presented by the Butch Cassidy Gang Car Club. The festivities began Friday evening with a cruise along Main Street and a pinup contest for 18 years and older contestants. There was a second pinup contest for under 18 on Saturday afternoon. This was the first of the car shows that take place in Carbon County each year. Yet to come are the East Carbon-Sunnyside Bo Huff show during Community Daze, the Price International Days show, The Carbon County Fair and another car show during the Helper Arts and Music Festival. Add the Demolition Derby and two big burnout events and you can see that cars are a significant contributor to local culture.
