Gangstas, no rap, on the agenda for Helper Outlaw Day

Helper’s Western Mining & Railroad Museum is hosting Castle Gate Outlaw Day April 22 on Main Street. The event will mark the 120th anniversary of the 1897 train robbery of the Pleasant Valley Coal Company’s mine payroll by Butch Cassidy and his gang.
The day begins with a ham, biscuit and gravy breakfast at the museum from 9 to 11 a.m. Donation is $5.
From noon until 4 p.m. there will be face painting, old west photography portraits and buggy rides. Bill Betenson, Butch Cassidy’s great-grand nephew, and western expert Joe Hickey will speak at the Rio Theatre from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The Clampers Building in the old Carbon Hotel will have cowboy poetry at 2:30 p.m.
The Rio Theatre will screen a documentary on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid at 4 p.m.
The Clampers will host at Matt Warner birthday party at 5 p.m.
