Helper Police Officer Chris Gigliotti received a certificate of commendation from Mayor Ed Chavez and the City Council last Thursday for his actions in the November 11 chase and arrest of a suspect who was speeding in a stolen truck.
The officer’s response led to the recovery of thousands of dollars of stolen property.
Gigliotti was the first to spot the pickup truck and trailer after it was reported driving erratically down Price Canyon. When Gigliotti attempted to stop the driver, a 36-year-old Salt Lake area man,  the suspect sped off toward Price.
The ensuing chase involved Utah Highway Patrol troopers, deputy sheriffs and police officers from Price and Wellington.
The suspect, Tyson Brent Anderson was captured when he tried to flee on foot.
In addition to the stolen truck and trailer, police also found about $20,000 in stolen construction equipment and a cache of drugs.
