PRICE,UT/PORT ORCHARD,WA-Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Janice Erlene Shafer Whipple, age 78, passed away May 8, 2016 in Price, Utah after a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1938 in Moab, Utah to Earl and Esther Merz Shafer. Janice married Darwin Allred of Carbonville, Utah; they later divorced. Married Ron E. Whipple of South Dakota; he preceded her in death on March 5, 1974.
Janice was a longtime resident of Price where she graduated from Carbon High School in 1957. Janice was a loving and caring person to all she met. She was very generous and always put others needs before her own. She loved bowling, going on rides, shopping, working on puzzles, donating to charities and most importantly caring for her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her sons and daughter, Tracy (Ellen) Allred, Price, Cindy (John) Exton, Lebanon, Oregon, Ray Whipple & Bobbi, Price; 7 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl (Melva) Shafer, Cottonwood Heights, Utah; and sister, Janet Baer, Vancover, WA.
Preceded in death by parents, infant brother, and her husband, Ron E. Whipple.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held Tuesday evening, May 10, 2016, at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where friends are welcome to share memories with the family from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Janice will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington on Friday, May 13, 2016. Family will receive friends at the Rill Funeral Home in Port Orchard with a graveside service following at 1:00 p.m.
