Shortly after midnight Friday, a traffic stop for a minor moving violation in Price led to the arrest of two women on drug charges, outstanding warrants and a parole violation.
Taken into custody were Chelsie Belle Sitterud, 26, formerly of Price, and Sasha Kay Fowler, 32, of Price.
According to information provided by Price Police Capt. Bill Barnes, the incident began when Officer Drew Olson made thetraffic stop. Upon contacting the female driver and female passenger, the officer was allegedly given false ID information from both women and the passenger was attempting to hide her face.
Officer Olson realized the passenger was Sasha Kay Fowler and known to have outstanding warrants. Olson was assisted by Officers Nick Parker and Brandon Ratcliffe. Fowler allegedly acknowledged the reason she provided false identity information was her concern for being identified and arrested for her outstanding warrants.
Fowler was arrested and booked into the Carbon County Jail for the three warrants and the misdemeanor charge of False Personal Information to Police. Fowler has been arrested eight previous times mostly for drug, theft, and false identity crimes.
Attention thenfocused on the drive. Officer Ratcliffe recognized the driver as Chelsie Belle Sitterud, who is currently on parole, and is a fugitive from Adult Probation and Parole, having walked away from a halfway house in Salt Lake City. NCIC warrants for Sitterud’s arrest had been issued and she was taken into custody.
AP & P Agents Tom Kosmack and Andrea Haight were now also on scene. A search of the vehicle was conducted. A backpack allegedly with Sitterud’s belongings was located, along with a locked safe. Sitterud allegedly denied ownership of the safe. Inside the safe, officers allegedly located numerous small zip lock baggies typically used for drug distribution, a digital scale, prescription pills, and just under 11 grams of methamphetamine.
During the search, officers also allegedly located on Sitterud’s person a switch blade knife (which she is restricted from possession as a dangerous weapon), over $400 cash, and several debit/credit cards with other people’s names on them.
Sitterud was warned for the traffic violation, and for driving on a denied license. She was arrested and booked for her warrants, and charged with Possession With Intent To Distribute Methamphetamine as a 1st Degree Felony, Possession of Marijuana (allegedly acknowledged by Sitterud and located in her bra by Agent Haight), Possession of a Controlled Substance as a 3rd Degree Felony (pills), Possession of Paraphernalia a Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Restricted Person a 3rd Degree Felony, and False Personal Information to a Police Officer as a Class A Misdemeanor. The Carbon County Attorney’s Office will review the police report to determine what formal charges to file against Sitterud.
Sitterud has 9 previous arrests, including forgery, fraud, burglary, retail theft, drug, and previous parole violations.
