The Carbon High School boys’ basketball team competed at the Ben Lomond Pepsi Classic last weekend, coming home with a 2-2 record.
The Dinos’ first game of the weekend was a thriller, as they came away with a win against South Summit after double overtime. The Dinos started the game by scoring a mere four points in the first period. However, they held South Summit to just that in the second period while scoring 17 of their own. After halftime, the teams went back and forth before ending regulation tied. In the first overtime, both teams only manged to score five points, and the game entered double overtime. The Dinos came alive and scored 10 points as opposed to South Summit’s three and came away with the 60-53 win.
Seniors Brad Williams and Cole Fossat both scored 11 points in the game. Williams tallied four two-pointers and three three-pointers, while Fossat scored three two-pointers, one three-pointer and two free throws.
The Dinos struggled in their next two games of the weekend, taking 40-32 and 66-52 losses against North Summit and Ogden, respectively.
However, the Dinos didn’t go home disappointed, as they dominated in their last game of the tournament and claimed a 78-39 victory over American Prep. Fossat tallied 15 points in the game on three two-pointers and three three-pointers. Seniors Anthony Maclean and Peyton Faucett both tallied nine points, Maclean on three three-pointers and Faucett on four two-pointers and one free throw.
The Dinos will play their next game at home on Friday against Uintah at 7 p.m.
