PRICE-Carlos Eugene Cook, passed away November 13, 2015 at home just one day shy of his 84th birthday.
He was born November 14, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marion Eugene and Gladys Bohn Cook. Married his sweetheart, Vera Rae Rasmussen December 11, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Gene was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With his wife, they served 13 years in the Manti Temple and in numerous other callings. Bishop Cook enjoyed serving in the scouting program, sunday school, mutual, ward genealogy committee, stake high council and as Bishop of the Price Eleventh Ward.
Gene wore many hats in life. He worked as a master electrician at Hunter, Huntington and Delta Power Plants. He also worked at the power plants in Iowa. He was owner and operator of Delta-Wye Electric where he worked on numerous projects within Price City, such as the Desert Wave Pool and at Carbon High. When not at work, Gene enjoyed being a high school sports official and driving bus for the Carbon School District for 19 years. He cherished these memories and the students always kept him young at heart.
He honorably served his country in the US Navy while stationed in San Diego. Gene was a member of the IBEW Local #354 and the National Electrical Contractors Association. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, sports, playing cards and games with his family. Gene had his pilot’s license and enjoyed airplanes. “Fly high Gene, you will be dearly missed by all”.
“Cookie” is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vera Cook; four daughters, one son and their spouses, Brenda Holt, Michelle (Vince) Chilcott, Barry Lynn (Camilyn) Cook, Shaunette (Shane) Hamblin, Daphne Rae (Brent) Stockdale; brothers and sister, Ron (Jean) Cook, Dixie Wilson, Stephen Cook; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandson, Jax Matthew Hamblin; and son-in-law, Dino Holt.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mitchell Funeral Home, Symbii Hospice for all their love and care and everyone else for their prayers, love and many acts of service. Also a special thanks to the dedicated members of the Price American Legion.
Funeral service, Thursday, November 19, 2015, 12:00 noon in the Price Eleventh LDS Ward (300 West 500 South) in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the General Missionary Fund @www.lds.org.
