Yochio Espino
HUNTINGTON – Yochio Espino, age 16, died March 22, 2008 in the Huntington desert.
He was born June 12, 1991 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Daniel Espino and Berthila Leon.
Yochio was raised in Emery County, where he attended Emery High.
He loved to hang out with friends and family, play sports, and be on the computer.
He also loved playing with his nephew, Aiden.
He is survived by his mother, Berthila Leon; brothers, Daniel Espino Jr., and Oswaldo Espino; sisters, Wanda Salazar and Karen Clarke.
A Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, March 26, at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 210 N. Carbon Avenue, Price. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Karie Jones Foo
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Karie Jean (Jones) Foo died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Wash.
She was born Sept. 24, 1962 at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Wash., to Robert Keith and Joyce Jones. She was raised in Bellevue and attended Ivanhoe Elementary, Highland Junior High School, Interlake High School, Ricks College, Brigham Young University and City University.
Karie married Nicholas Foo on Sept. 16, 1995 and they made their home in Bellevue, Wash. She was a regional human resources manager for Safeway for 15 years and a site coordinator at City University for 20 years.
Karie enjoyed being with her family and she especially loved to attend and support her nieces’ and nephews’ activities.
Her family remembers Karie as a caring, loving and selfless person.
Karie is survived by her husband, Nicholas Yuen-Wah Foo; her daughter, Melissa Ann Foo; her parents, Robert Keith and Joyce Jones; her brother, Stanley Keith Jones; sister, Stacey Joy Freitas; sister, Kelly Virginia Carlson; sister, Tonya Marie Eyler; and brother, Robert Kurt Jones.
Her funeral service was Saturday, March 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bellevue, Wash. A committal service followed at Upper Hillside Cemetery, Issaquah, Wash. Arrangements entrusted to Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home.

Katherine Lozinsky
EAST CARBON/ELMO – Katherine Anna Clements Lozinsky, age 88, passed away peacefully March 20, 2008 at Turnquist Retreat in Elmo.
She was born Nov. 4, 1919 in LaJunta, Colo., to Lester James and Lena Jenkins Clements. Married John Lozinsky, April 24, 1944 in LaJunta, Colo.; he died April 11, 2004.
Katherine was a longtime member of the East Carbon Community Church, where she held many offices.
She was a resident of East Carbon since 1948, where she volunteered at the East Carbon senior citizens center for many years.
She enjoyed cross-stitching table cloths, baking for her family and visiting with family and friends.
Survived by two daughters and one son, Betty (Terry) Jordan, Price; John H. (Kathy) Lozinsky, Hayden, Colo.; Verna (Jerry) Stephens, Griffin, Ga.; sister, Norma Jean Flieschacker, Aurora, Colo.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Beatrice Snow and Dorothy Beard; and great-grandson, Andrew Dowton.
Funeral service, Wednesday, March 26, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Jason Eugene Migliori
PRICE – Jason Eugene Migliori, age 38, left this earth to join his Heavenly Father on March 19, 2008.
He was born Sept. 4, 1969 in Moab, but lived most of his life in Price.
Jason enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and most all outdoor activities.
His nephews thought he was the “best uncle” ever.
Jason was very adapt at jobs he tried, conquering most of them.
He was always there to help the older generation and the young folks.
Jason leaves behind his wife, Jennifer; children, Colby, Dylan, Jashea, Mason, Morgan and Aliyah; his father, Gene Migliori of Price; mother, Willie Lue Payne of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Thora Dowdell of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
Jason will be missed by those who truly knew him as a kind and good-hearted man.
Funeral services were Monday, March 24, at Fausett Mortuary in Price.
Anita Jean Van Wagoner
MESA, Ariz. – Anita Jean O’Leary Van Wagoner, age 58, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Mesa, Ariz., on March 15, 2008. She was taken from our sight as a result of an inoperable tumor in her liver. She spent her last days surrounded by loving family and friends at home.
She was born on May 23, 1949 in Sacramento, Calif., to Harold William and Kathleen Lucille O’Leary. She married W. Max Van Wagoner on Oct. 19, 1979.
Max adopted her two children and they now have nine grandchildren and a beautiful great-granddaughter.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a consummate artist.
Her many artistic hobbies included painting in various media, stained glass, ceramics, floral arranging and interior decorating.
Her creativity, wisdom and quick wit will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her loving sweetheart and soul mate, W. Max Van Wagoner; children, Jerry and Kari, Citrus Heights, Calif.; Heather and Jeremy, Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Harry, Tom and Danny; five sisters, Rosalie, Kathy, Marianne, Margaret and Patty. Her parents and her brother, Mike, preceded her in death.
An informal gathering in her remembrance will be Saturday, March 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 275 S. 1400 East, Wellington.

Rita Oviatt
PRICE -Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, Rita Axelsen Oviatt, age 84, passed away March 22, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 5, 1923 in Huntington to Percy and Lola Elizabeth Gordon Axelsen. Married the love of her life, Volmer Oviatt, Aug. 5, 1944 in Price.
Rita was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a longtime resident of Carbon County.
She was well-known by many for her 28 years of dedicated service at JCPenney’s in Price.
Mom loved spending her weekends in Scofield or camping on the desert. She always looked forward to Melon Days in Green River every year and her home was always open for those wishing to visit.
She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Survived by her husband, Volmer Oviatt, Price; one son and two daughters, Kent Oviatt, Spring Glen, Peggy Hennings, Price, Susan (Henry) Etzel, Wellington; sister, Lois Abrams, Price; sister-in-law, Clara Axelsen, Price; grandsons, Michael Etzel, Salt Lake City; David Payton of Helper; friend and caretaker, Virginia Martinez. Rita was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Traci Tallerico; brother, Sheldon Axelsen; son-in-law, Bob Hennings; and brother-in-law, Jack Abrams.

Mary Gallegos Espinoza
WELLINGTON – Good Friday was the day God chose to call Mary Espinoza back into His loving arms. On March 21, 2008, surrounded by her family, calmness came over the room as she took her last breath and passed away.
She was born on July 14, 1922 to Beatrice and Cayetano Gallegos in Espanola, N.M. She was the youngest of six children. Mary’s family moved to Montrose, Colo., where she met and married Eloy Espinoza on Aug. 1, 1938. In 1948, they moved to Sunnydale, where Eloy worked at Kaiser Coal Mining Co. In 1953, the family moved to Wellington, where they built their home. Mary and Eloy had 10 children, nine sons and one daughter.
Mary was known for her love of cooking, especially her pies. Mary worked in several restaurants in Price. If Mary moved to a new restaurant, her clientele would follow to continue enjoying her cooking. The last 10 years of her career were spent in the housekeeping department at Castleview Hospital, where she eventually retired on April 27, 1990.
Mary was very fond and proud of her family. She loved babies and animals, especially cats. She loved to crochet and made afghans for all her children and grandchildren.
Mom had the greenest thumb around. She loved plants and flowers.
Mom, we love you; you’ve always been our hero.
Survived by her children, Raymond, Alpine, Calif.; Frances (John Escandon Jr.), Chula Vista, Calif.; Joseph (Lori), Albuquerque, N.M.; Johnny, Price; Sam (Pat), Wellington; Marty, Salt Lake City; Anthony (Karen), Albuquerque, N.M.; Gary, Price; daughters-in-law, Sharon Espinoza, Portland, Ore.; Pam Espinoza, Chula Vista, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Gallegos, Questa, N.M.; brother Silverio Gallegos, Salt Lake City; many nieces and nephews and their children. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eloy; sons, Jesse and David; granddaughter, Corrainea; daughter-in-law, Jeanine; sisters, Arcenia and Teresina; brother, Julian; and her parents.
She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.

Clyde T. Lowe
SPANISH FORK – Clyde T. Lowe, 92, returned home to his Father in Heaven on Friday, March 14, 2008, at UVRMC in Provo. Clyde was surrounded in the last several hours by his loving family.
Clyde was born April 20, 1915 to Alfred Budge Lowe and Arlean Jessop Lowe in Millville. He lived most of his young life in Providence, graduating from Utah State University in range and wildlife management.
He married his Valentine, Kate Johnson Lowe, on Feb. 14, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the parents of three children, 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, with one great-great-grandchild on the way.
Clyde worked for 32 years with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, six years of this time on loan to the U.S. State Department, two years in Pakistan and four years in Thailand.
He lived and worked in Price, Cedar City, Panguitch, Payson and Spanish Fork, retiring in 1970 at the age of 55.
Clyde always was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked in the Sunday School superintendency for four wards and was active in the Boy Scouts and young men. He was bishop for five years for the Spanish Fork 6th LDS Ward and also served in the high council, stake presidency and as a mission president for three years in Bangkok, Thailand. He served as a temple worker and was active in his priesthood quorums.
He was active in three different Lions Clubs and president of Panguitch School District for a time.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Kent C. (Cathy) Lowe, Price; Thomas J. (Merdene) Lowe, Payson; Arlene (Vernon) Mills, Spanish Fork; siblings, Ray, Blair and Paul Lowe, brothers; and one sister, Rose Madsen. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jess Lowe; one sister, Marion Esplin; one grandchild, Chad Lowe; and his loving sweetheart, Kate.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 22, at the Spanish Fork West LDS Stake Center. Interment was in the Spanish Fork Cemetery under the direction of Walker Mortuary.
A special thank you to Dr. Lynn Bateman and staff, Dr. Marvin Allen, Horizon Home Care, Orchard Park Rehab and UVRMC for their tender care in Dad’s behalf and for the 500 missionary sons and daughters who filled his life with purpose, gratitude, service and love to him and the Savior.
